WHO: Thomas Jefferson Campus at Abraham Lincoln High School

WHEN: Friday, Feb. 6 at 6:00 p.m.

WHERE: Lincoln High School, 2800 Ocean Parkway, Brooklyn, 11235

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT: This is the second of a possible four matchups between Lincoln and Jefferson this season as they could meet again during the borough playoffs and in the city-wide playoffs as well.

Jefferson won the first round 98-86 in East New York. Shamorie Ponds turned himself into a star that day when he turned in a triple-double, 37 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds. Lincoln played a good game, Jahlil Tripp scored 24 points, and it was still hanging around in the third, but Ponds was too much for Lincoln’s freshman guards.

Friday night is a big game because Jefferson is a perfect 13-0 and Lincoln is 12-1 with its only loss coming against Jefferson so they are still battling for first place.

PREDICTION: Both gyms are small and it seems like the crowd is directly on top of the courts so the home team gets a big advantage in these games. Lincoln should have an advantage for that reason alone. Then keep in mind that Jahlil Tripp wasn’t quite at 100 percent the first time around and freshmen guards Tyler Bourne and Paul Person are much more experienced. At least for this game, I expect that Lincoln will win it.
