The Fort Hamilton Tigers finally picked up their first win of the season by beating the New Utrecht Utes 30-6 in Bensonhurst on Saturday and in doing so they snapped their seven-game losing streak that went back to last season.
Fort Hamilton was led offensively by sophomore Troy Booker, who ran for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Sharif Legree completed all seven passes he attempted for 115 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Mohammad Masoud, who had 77 yards receiving. Michael Brooks also had 74 total yards and a touchdown.
Fort Hamilton was led on defense by Ayorinde Idowu, who had 10 tackles including five for loss and three sacks. Jayson Magnani also had a sack and 14 tackles.
It was a rough game for the Utes especially coming off of a big win against Brooklyn Tech last week. Quarterback Angelo Carrera only completed two of his 16 pass attempts and Dayquan Russell was limited to 51 yards despite a long-run of 30 yards. Bryan Burroughs had the Utes’ only touchdown in the second quarter and finished with 33 yards rushing.
After winning in back-to-back weeks with huge efforts from the defense, the Utes were pretty quiet as they had no sacks, one fumble recovery, by Gianni Penso, and only one tackle for loss.
