Coming off its big win against Lincoln, Erasmus Hall fell into a trap against South Shore, but the Dutchmen managed to bail themselves out of it before it was too late as they came back to beat the Vikings 14-12 at Sid Luckman Field in Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon.
E-Hall quarterback Aaron Grant finished with 146 passing yards and had one passing and one rushing touchdown. Keon Gravenhise led all receivers with 88 yards and had the eventual game-winning touchdown in the third quarter. Dave Thony led the running backs with 70 yards on 12 carries.
Erasmus Hall’s defense played a huge part in this win as Andre Francis and Tysene Foster each had three sacks and Deonte Roberts had one as well. Duran Campbell, Giancarlo Jean Joseph, Aaron John also played big roles defensively as well.
After it picked up two touchdowns in the first five minutes of the game, South Shore didn’t do a whole lot offensively. Sophomore quarterback Jason Martin was held to just 83 yards passing. He had another 87 yards rushing, but Timothy Bowers was held to just 55 yards rushing with one touchdown.Juvensen Jeune led with 36 yards receiving, but dropped passes cost South Shore in the end.
South Shore didn’t look bad on defense even though they didn’t have a single sack or interception. The Vikings did recover three fumbles though with Armand Robinson, Kedler Charles and Omar Jarrett nabbing them. Jarrett ran his back for a 27-yard touchdown.
