E.J. Reed tied the game with a three-pointer with just nine second left, but that wasn’t enough as Sam Prescott hit a three at the buzzer to lead Mount St. Mary’s to a 95-92 victory over the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds at Knott Arena Saturday night.

Reed scored 24 points and had eight assists for the Blackbirds. Troy Joseph and Iverson Fleming each had 18 points and Jason Brickman had 12 points and 12 assists for his ninth double-double of the season. They shot 54.3 percent as a group and actually won the battle on the glass with 39 rebounds to Mount’s 26. They committed 16 turnovers though which was the difference.

Mount led for nearly the entire game, but LIU Brooklyn was never out of it. The largest lead was just nine points, but they never gave it up. The score was tied on six different occasions though.

It was 79-79 with 3:17 left after Brickman hit a shot from the line. However, Mount killed some time with a 7-2 run. Reed cut that lead to one with a three pointer with 17 seconds left. Reed hit another to tie it with nine seconds left, but Prescott answered back off a feed from Julian Norfleet and the Blackbirds ran out of time.
