LIU Brooklyn freshman Glenn Feidanga had the best week of his college career last week and was rewarded by being named to his first Northeast Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week award on Monday. He shares the honors with Matt Mobley of Central Connecticut.
Feidanga’s week started with a eight point, 10 rebound performance against Bryant on Thursday. He played more minutes in that game than he has since Dec. 5 against Seton Hall and his solid performance was rewarded with even more minutes on Saturday.
It was Saturday against Mount St. Mary’s when Feidanga really shined. He registered his first career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds to go with one block.
Feidanga averages 4.2 points with 4.0 rebounds per game in 19 games so far this season. If the 6-foot-8 forward/center could up his game on a consistent basis it would be huge for the Blackbirds considering that they have struggled on the glass all season.
He is the second Blackbird to win the Rookie of the Week honors this season. Iverson Fleming took home that accolade on Dec. 16.
