The St. Francis Terriers had a six point lead with 1:23 to play, but couldn’t close the game out when Fairleigh Dickinson had a late rally to beat them 86-85 in New Jersey Thursday night.
Jalen Cannon led the Terriers with 23 points and 11 rebounds, he also picked up his 1,000th career point for the Terriers late in the game. It was Cannon that gave the Terriers the six-point lead, he had 14 in the second half, but a couple of late turnovers really hurt as they allowed a quick three, a layup and a pair of free throws won it.
Cannon, who is the 29th player to ever score 1,000 for the Terriers, also picked up his 700th career rebound. He’s been hot lately and picked up his sixth double-double on the season.
Sheldon Hagigal had 18 points and seven rebounds, Ben Mockford had 16, Wayne Martin had nine and seven in fifteen minutes, and Brent Jones had seven points with 10 assists.
The Terriers fall to 12-8 overall and 3-2 in Northeast Conference play. They play Bryant University on Saturday, who comes in with a 4-1 NEC record and a three-game winning streak.
