The ASA Avengers started the season with a loss, but then didn’t lose another game all season as they won the NJCAA championship and Carrier Dome Bowl. It was an impressive season and as a result four different players, Alexander Ajanaku-Wells, Donavan Williams, Cory Johnson and Vance Roberts, were named to the NJCAA All-American team earlier this week.
Ajanaku-Wells, a defensive back, was named to the First Team Defense after he scored three touchdowns this season on two fumble recoveries and an interception. He also had 45 tackles and was part of a defensive squad that limited opposing teams to just 112 passing yards per game.
Williams, a running back, was named Honorable Mention Offense as he led the conference with 1,024 rushing yards and was tied with 12 touchdowns. Johnson, a defensive lineman, led ASA with 49 tackles including 15 for a loss. Roberts, another cornerback, had seven tipped passes and an interception this season.
