The ASA Avengers’ sophomore guard Bishop Daniels signed a National Letter of Intent last week to play for Rutgers University next season.
“I’ve been recruited by the assistant coach Van Macon and I was recruited by Mike Rice when he was there after I decided to leave Miami,” Daniels told SNY.tv when he unofficially made the commitment last May. “The whole time I just felt comfortable with them. They made me feel like I was a part of their family from Day One.”
“I’m happy to be a part of the Rutgers family,” he said. “We plan on building this thing up and making it big time.”
The 6-foot-3 guard is in his first season with ASA after he transferred from the University of Miami where he played just three games as a freshman. This season, he is leading the Avengers with 20.8 points, 4.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game with a 47.8 field goal percentage through the first five games.
The Avengers are off to a 3-2 start this year after back-to-back wins against Army Prep and Mohawk Valley. They were 25-4 last year and made it all the way to the District III Championship where they lost 93-84 to Hagerstown Community College.
