The ceremony to retire Jason Kidd‘s jersey No. 5 will be held on Thursday night immediately prior to the start of the preseason game against the Miami Heat. Kidd has tried to deflect attention from himself even as the team tries to honor him which is why this ceremony is being held in the preseason and it’s also why it’ll be short.
Here is the schedule from the Brooklyn Nets:
|7:38||Arrive early and be in your seat|
|8:00||NBA TV Studio on TNT|
|8:07||Jason Kidd speaks|
|8:09||Banner raised to rafters|
I’m not sure exactly who the speakers are. Among those expected to be in attendance are Kerry Kittles, Buck Williams and former Nets general manager Rod Thorn. So it’s likely to be two of those three people, but I wouldn’t be completely surprised if it was somebody else as well. Either way it should be a cool night to honor one of the greatest Nets of all time.
