LIU Brooklyn’s Jenn Peters was so tremendous last week as she had three goals and an assist in two games that the Northeast Conference announced it gave her both the co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors. That’s the third week in a row Peters has won the NEC’s Rookie of the Week award.
Peters’ best game of last week was during the Blackbird’s 3-2 victory over Robert Morris at home on Friday where she gave LIU Brooklyn a 2-0 lead with goals during the 12th and 51st minutes. She then assisted on Tori Shinkowitz’s goal that ended up being the game-winning goal.
She followed that up with the game-winning goal during LIU Brooklyn’s 3-2 victory over Bryant at home on Sunday. The Blackbirds were leading 2-1 at the time and she scored on a shot from 18 yards out to make it 3-1 during the 60th minute.
The Blackbirds had recently lost six games in a row, but have now won four of their last five with the freshman Peters being integral in two of them. That turn around has left them in fourth place in the NEC with one game left against Mount St. Mary’s on Sunday.
