Deron Williams practiced again today and afterward he looked so good that Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd wouldn’t rule out the possibility that he could play against the Miami Heat in their final preseason game on Friday, according to Rod Boone of Newsday.

It’s unlikely that he will play though, especially considering that next Wednesday’s game could still be ruled out. It’s probably best that D-Will just sit out. Obviously it would be good to see him with his teammates that he hasn’t played with at all this preseason, but this team is built for the long-haul and is smart enough to realize that the spring is more important than November.

I’m with Paul Pierce, who said that it’s best for D-Will to just wait until he’s 100 percent. They’ll have time to gel later on. Right now D-Will has only had one full practice and two five-on-five days. There is no rush here.

D-Will struggled with ankle injuries throughout all of last year. There was no worry that he would come into this season hurt until he bruised his ankle again this offseason while practicing in Utah. Now he’s missed all of the preseason so far and could potentially miss the start of the season as well.

• Kidd also confirmed that Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez will all play in Friday’s final preseason game.
