The Brooklyn Nets have requested waivers on forward and Brooklyn-native Gary Forbes, the team’s general manager Billy King announced late Thursday. Forbes is the latest roster casualty as they cut the total to 17 players as we get closer to the regular season.
Forbes, who graduated from Benjamin Banneker, has played all over the world including a couple of stops in the NBA. From 2010-2012 he played for the Nuggets and Raptors where he averaged 15.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per 36 minutes with an effective field goal percentage of 47.8.
He played well with the Nets, but there was never a shot for him to make the team. I’m not sure what’s next for Forbes. He looked good in the preseason so it’s possible that he hooks on somewhere. I suppose there is still a chance that the Nets D-League affiliate, the Springfield Armor, sign him. If that happens, I’ll obviously pass that information along.
