Isaiah Whitehead is possibly the most sought after high school senior basketball player left uncommitted at this point, but that’s about to end as he has narrowed his list of schools down to five and will officially announce his decision at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at Lincoln High School.

It’s down to St. John’s, Seton Hall, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and Indiana. Whitehead, who just recently took visits to Indiana and Seton Hall, will still visit St. John’s on Wednesday and there is a lot of speculation that he could join the Red Storm.

“We told everybody he was going to make his decision before the season started, so this is the right time,” James Barrett, Whitehead’s AAU coach, told Zach Braziller of the NY Post. “I think they’re all great schools. It’s pretty much a decision at a school where he fits the most.”

St. John’s was in on Whitehead right away from his freshman year at Lincoln. It backed away a bit for a while though, but more recently it has come on strong again. It’s really just pure speculation that he could go there, but the fact that Steve Lavin, considered a great closing recruiter, gets the last chance to talk to him, has not gone unnoticed.

Of course he very well could be on his way to Seton Hall, a school Whitehead sounded very impressed with after his recent visit, as they have had an excellent recruiting class already with Angel Delgado and Brooklyn’s Khadeen Carrington already committing there as well. Of course, Minnesota and Pittsburgh have recruited him hard and he also enjoyed his recent trip to Indiana so it’s a pure guessing game at this point.

The Brooklyn Eagle will be at Lincoln for the announcement so follow on Twitter @BkEagleSports for a live update and check back afterward for a recap and photos from Coney Island.
