Brooklyn Nets forward Mirza Teletovic and Euro-stash Bojan Bogdanovic are taking part in the FIBA EuroBasket tournament going on this month as both of their respective teams, Bosnia and Croatia lost on the first game of competition.
Teletovic scored 18 points , had eight rebounds, and shot 6-for-17 from the floor in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 86-75 loss to Latvia. Teletovic scored 15 of his 18 points in the third quarter, in addition to a steal, a rebound, and an assist that quarter, as he tried lead his team in a comeback. He shot 0-for-4 and committed a turnover in the final quarter as the game slipped away.
Bogdanovic, who is expected to join the Nets next year or the year after, led his team with 12 points and seven rebounds as he shot 4-for-15 from the floor. Croatia let Spain take the game after they built up a dominating 15-point lead in the first quarter and then Spain finished the game on an 18-3 run that buried Croatia during an easy 68-40 victory.
Nets assistant coach Joe Prunty is coaching the Great Britain team. He helped to lead his squad in a 75-71 victory over Israel during the first game. Great Britain plays France on Thursday.
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia are both playing again on Thursday with Bosnia taking on Serbia and Croatia taking on Georgia.
