I knew it was going to be fun having Metta World Peace creating distractions all season while a member of the Knicks. This isn’t even much of a distraction as the season hasn’t started yet, but it’s just example of Ron Artest being Metta World Peace.
“Honestly, I don’t even know who’s on their team,” World Peace told Dan Duggan of Newsday when asked about the back and forth between the Nets and Knicks this offseason, which he himself has taken part in.. “I’m not going to lie. I’m just happy to be a Knick.”
It’s hard to believe that there are any players in the NBA right now that doesn’t know about the Nets/Celtics trade. It’s even harder to believe because World Peace, who is from Queens, says while he grew up a Knicks fan that he supports the Nets as a local sports fan. Shortly after signing with the Knicks earlier this offseason he tweeted, “Where Brooklyn at?”. Maybe he didn’t know and was seriously asking.
My guess is that he’s just saying stuff like this to get his name in the news. He’s doing a comedy set at B.B. Kings in Manhattan and my guess is that people aren’t falling over themselves to purchase tickets. This publicity couldn’t hurt especially since it serves as a reminder that he’ll basically say anything.
