Yesterday, I posted an article about LIU Brooklyn Women’s Soccer player Jenn Peters as she won the Rookie of the Week honors, but it turns out that LIU didn’t have just one player chosen for a weekly award, it had three.

Volleyball players, junior Annika Foit and senior Jessica Rice, were named Co-Player of the Week and Co-Defensive Player of the Week respectively for their stellar play during the USA Credit Union Invitational in Florida last weekend. Although the team itself wasn’t overwhelming during the tournament, dropping two of its three matches, Foit and Rice shined through.

Foit, who was also last season’s Northeast Conference Player of the Year, totaled 25 kills, 21 digs and seven service aces on the weekend including a double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs in the loss to No. 9 Florida. Rice, who was interviewed by the Eagle here, had 19 kills and led her team with 10 blocks during the tournament.

The Blackbirds are headed to Maryland this weekend for the Maryland Invitational where they will take on Penn, Maryland, and UMKC on Friday and Saturday.
