Jason Kidd held a press conference on Tuesday to discuss his plans for the team and here is what he said.

  • Kidd confirmed he’s now a minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets.
  • Kidd indicated that Joe Johnson would get the final shot this year, but added, “it’s about making the right basketball play at the end.”
  • He said that he feels like he just got traded to the Nets from Phoenix all over again.
  • Kidd confirmed that Deron Williams will get a MRI on Friday and said he expects him to be ready for camp.
  • He consulted with coaches like Phil Jackson, Frank Vogel, and Doc Rivers to learn what they did wrong when they started.
  • He said the goal right now is just to make it out of training camp healthy.
  • He admitted that he still has something to prove as a coach to the team’s veterans.
  • He called last year’s team vanilla and said they had no identity. He added that the arrival of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce will help with that.
  • He reiterated that he plans to limit both of their minutes and said, ‘the intent is May/June and not December/January.’
  • He admitted that Garnett was not too happy to hear that he didn’t plan on using him in back-to-back games.
