Deron Williams hurt his ankle again this offseason and is in a walking boot for the time being. He said that the injury won’t cause him to miss the start of training camp, but he is expected to undergo a MRI this week, according to Mike Mazzeo of ESPNNewYork.com.
They’re calling the injury a sprained right ankle and bone bruise. He’ll go through the MRI before being cleared to take off the walking boot.
“(My ankle’s) good. It’s good. As long as I’m ready for the start of the regular season (Oct. 30 in Cleveland), that’s all that matters, but I’ll be ready for the start of camp,” D-Will told Mazzeo last week.
Like D-Will said, as long as he’s ready for the start of the season that’s all that matters. I really wish he would have taken it easy on the ankle this offseason instead of involving himself in many stupid activities like going to a trampoline park.
The ankle injury really slowed him down last season and his numbers before and after the All-Star Break, when he got a cortisone shot and platelet rich therapy, are stark — 16.7 points, 7.6 assists per game while shooting 41.3 percent before the break and 22.9 points, 8.0 assists while shooting 48.1 percent after.
