The St. Francis Brooklyn men’s basketball team has been invited to the Mainland Bracket of The EA Sports Maui Invitational where they will compete for a chance to play in the Championship Round of the tournament which will be in Maui’s Lahaina Civic Center on Nov. 25-27.
The tournament is one of the nation’s premier early-season college basketball tournaments. The Mainland Bracket begins with St. Francis heading to Dayton on Nov. 16 then Syracuse on Nov. 18. They will then travel to Conway, South Carolina where they will compete in the Regional Games at Coastal Carolina University on Nov. 23-24. The Terriers will be taking on Coastal Carolina on Nov. 23. The winner of that game plays for a chance to be in the Championship Round.
“We are extremely excited to be a part of this outstanding event,” Glenn Braica, the Terriers’ head coach said in a statement. “We are looking forward to playing against some outstanding programs and the experience should help us prepare for our Northeast Conference schedule.”
Other schools included in the tournament are Arkansas, Baylor, California, Dayton, Gonzaga, Minnesota, Syracuse, and Chaminade. The winner of the tourney takes home the Wayne Duke Championship Trophy. Illinois beat Butler 78-61 to win last year’s trophy.
