The LIU Blackbirds got a verbal commitment from Landon Atterberry on June 30, according to Atterberry’s twitter feed. The 6-foot-6 forward transfers in from Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, North Carolina where he averaged 16.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game with a 57.8 shooting percentage.
Atterberry, who went to high school in Southfield Michigan, scored 20+ points six times out of 18 games last season and reached double digits rebounding three times. His average of 16.6 points and 6.6 rebounds is up from 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds during his freshman year.
Atterbury joins Chris Carter (transfer), Nara Zanna, Iverson Fleming, Joel Hernandez, and Glenn Feidanga as newcomers to the LIU team. The Blackbirds currently have 14 players on their roster including eight players returning from last season.
