Brittany Hart had a tremendous rookie season for the LIU Brooklyn women’s bowling team last year winning Rookie of the Week honors four times and finishing with a 19.56 frame average. She, and three of her teammates, were honored away from the lanes this week as the National Tenpin Coaches Association were named Honorable Mention Academic All-NTCA for their work in the classroom.

Hart, a health science major who finished with a 3.84 GPA last year, was honored along with her teammates Karen Diosa (3.45 GPA), Essanna Gray (3.57 and recently graduated with a degree in biology), and Brianna Nowels (3.27).

THe NTCA only honored 15 students nationwide handing out first, second, and third team mentions and 164 students from 34 different schools were named to the NTCA’s honor roll.

Of course, these ladies were pretty good at the lanes as well picking up a school record 53 victories last year. They also defeated 27 nationally ranked schools including the eventual champion Nebraska as they themselves finished with a No. 17 ranking nationwide. First year head coach Kayla Jones was named NEC Coach of the Year with Hart and Diosa picking up All-NEC SEcond Team honors and freshman Natasha Bidwell being named to the All-NEC Rookie team.
